Transition Activities

5-8th Middle School Events (early Spring): 6th graders are included in school functions at MA including Earth Day and Music in our Schools day.

6th Grade Orientation Day #1 (mid-May): 6th graders take part in orientation activities including a tour of the building, meeting core academic teachers, and attending a panel discussion with 7th grade peer leaders.

6th Grade Parent Information Night (late May): Teachers will speak briefly about their subjects, and Mr. Rollins will present information to parents on transitioning to the Academy.

World Language Teachers visit MCS (late May): Teachers will talk about the choice of French, Spanish, and Latin that is offered for grade 7.

6th Grade Orientation Day #2 (early June): 6th graders visit MA again to have lunch with the 7th and 8th graders, experience a lesson in an MA classroom, and hear about various programs available at MA.

7th Grade Schedules (late June): Schedules will be handed to 6th grade students at MCS during the last week of school. 7th graders receive their schedules earlier than other MA students.

MA Open House (late Sept): Parents are invited to MA to meet teachers and see the school.

Student-Led Conferences (early Nov): Students will direct a meeting regarding their learning goals and performance.
