MCS Kindergarten Orientation
Notes for KINDERGARTEN PARENTS
June 2020

Kindergarten Class Placement
  • Small classes expected - approximately 13-18 per group. (Subject to change with move-ins and outs).
  • Using Pals from Pre-K and talking with daycare providers and pre-k teachers for placement.
  • Class Placement letters will be emailed on June 22nd.
2020/2021 School Calendar
  • Tuesday, September 1st - First Day of School!

  • MCS Open House tbd
  • Staff Professional Development Workday: tbd
  • Parent/Teacher Conference Day - Friday, November 13th there is no school for students on that day.
MCS Sign-in/Sign-out and Welcome Badge
  • You are always welcome here! We ask that you sign in at the office and put on a visitor badge when in the building during school hours.
  • If picking up your child before the end of the day we ask that you sign them out on the clipboard in the office.

Computers

  • Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for use of school technology. Will be sent home in FIRST DAY PACKET on September 2nd.
Communication
  • MCS Weekly - every Friday
  • PawPrints - mailed a couple times a month

  • Parents/Caregivers are our Partners! Your questions, ideas and suggestions are valued. Set aside a time to TALK WITH THE TEACHER or CALL ANY SCHOOL PERSONNEL ANYTIME at 476-5535 or email staff (links found on our website).

  • School Board Meetings second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Town Hall Building
Drop off, Pick up and Child Safety
  • Arrive between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m.
  • We rely upon you to INFORM us anytime your child's dismissal plan changes from the normal routine. This includes going home with and/or being picked up by someone different. If we do not hear from you, we will follow your child's usual procedure at the end of the day. If your plans change and/or you need to change your child's plans, please call or email the office as early in the day as possible. We cannot guarantee messages to students if the call comes in after 2:15 p.m.
  • Students are released ONLY to those people whose names appear on their Student Information Form unless we have a note, email or call from a parent notifying us to expect someone else. We will ask to see ID if we are unfamiliar with the person's identity. Students being picked up at the end of the day by parents are asked to pick up their child at our walkers and pickups area in the front of MCS. Staff members will walk students out to designated area.
  • Please call the school in the morning (Between 7:30-9:30) to let us know if your child will be absent from school that day.
Family Handbook

Your child will receive an updated MCS Family Handbook on the first day of school in the fall. We hope this is useful to you as both a source of information and a quick reference.
